Hydralyte is Nepal's first hydration supplement, uniquely formulated with electrolytes and multivitamins.

The founders approached me to design a responsive website to function as both a digital storefront and an informational hub. Until then, they had relied on Instagram as their primary online storefront.

The goal was to create an online presence that would drive sales, inform consumers about hydration, and reinforce the brand’s core message of health and wellness.

Hydralyte aimed for a clean, streamlined website aesthetic—balancing professionalism with a touch of energy. They wanted to avoid an overly scientific tone packed with technical details, as well as a style that felt too playful or colorful. Instead, the design focused on evoking hydration and fitness in a fresh, minimal way that resonated with the brand's core message

Branding

I worked with the brand guidelines provided by the Hydralyte team, which included product packaging, iconography, and fonts. These elements informed the site’s structure, color palette, and visual identity, bringing Hydralyte’s brand to life online.

UX/UI

The Hydralyte team provided a clear and focused vision for their website and mobile app. With only four flavors to sell, the primary goal was to design a platform that streamlined the purchasing process while also offering a secondary function: educating consumers about the brand. Their guidelines emphasized creating a clean, straightforward, and user-friendly interface.

To achieve this, I began with UX audits and competitor analyses to identify industry standards and opportunities for improvement. These insights informed the creation of iterative wireframes, which served as the foundation for developing functional prototypes.

Final Takeaway

Designing the mid-fidelity prototypes for Hydralyte reinforced a key lesson for me: clean design is essential. I had to continuously remind myself that less is more—a principle that guided my approach to layout, spacing, and hierarchy. To maintain both sophistication and usability, I applied the 60-30-10 color ratio rule, ensuring a balanced and visually cohesive experience.

One of the biggest challenges I faced was striking the right harmony between simplicity and interaction. I wanted the design to feel engaging without overwhelming the user. The scrolling ticker tape feature was particularly challenging—I struggled to get the scroll functionality to work correctly and had to iterate multiple times to achieve the right result. Next time, I’d make better use of carousel components to present content more effectively. Additionally, I’d establish a design system early on to streamline the process and maintain consistency across screens.

This project was a great exercise in restraint, interaction, and efficiency—three elements I’ll continue to refine in my future work.
